human rights film festival



The 5th Tri-continental Film Festival has  opened in Bangalore on Friday.

The festival, India’s only one on human rights features 27 films from over 20countries. It is being held from January 30to February 1at the Alliance Francaise de Bangalore(AFB), Vasanthnagar. The films of suffering, struggle as well as hope, the film fest brings all that.

 There are four sections in the festival:

Body public (six film exploring the engagemaent of human body witu the public sphere),

Not All in Good Faith (seven films on exploitation by business ventures),

The Lion That Defines (Four films on poltical borders)


 Zones of War (11films on strife-torn regions).


The festival is organized by Break-through, an NGO working on human rights issues, along with Bangalore Film society (BSF) and the AFB.

The festival is launched as a perfect vehicle to introduce global human rights issues to the youth There are 11 Asia premieres, eight India premieres and one world premiere in the festival, that will later travel to Goa and Kolkata. Entry is free
