Film Screening and Stammtisch

21.01.2010, 6.15 p.m.
Goethe-Institut/ Max Mueller Bhavan
German with English subtitles

All are welcome!

Learn German – get to know Germany!
“Stammtisch” is typically German and cannot be translated into English.
It can be described as a regular casual get-together. In our case it
means a monthly get-together of our German language course students and
young Germans living in Bangalore. The programme usually begins with
the screening of a German film – with English sub-titles. Then the
action moves to Café Max on the rooftop for interaction and discussion.
The language of communication is German and we hope to encourage
cultural exchange in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Young Michael Polischka wanders lost yet purposefully through the
streets of Neukölln until he enters a police station. Blood clings to
his shoe and he proceeds to tell Police Commissioner Gerber his story.
A story of violence, of crime, of neglect, of the daily routine in
troubled areas, but most of all it is a story of a lost boy in Berlin,
who just wants to be left alone.
