Filmshow – a tribute to V K Murthy

VIKALP BENGALURU a tribute to legendary cinematographer V.K.MURTHY who has just returned home after receiving the Dada Saheb Phalke award for 2008.
on 27th March 2010
at Khincha Auditorium, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan,
Race Course Road, Bangalore 560001

3pm – Screening of Sri. V.K.MURTHY’s favourite work, Hindi feature film PYAASA (1957)
5.30pm – Coffee
6pm – Screening of a Curtain Raiser on Sri. V.K.Murthy. Directed by his student, renowned filmmaker Sri. Govind Nihalani.
This will be followed by an interaction with Sri. V.K.Murthy.
Cinematographer Sri. Navroze Contractor will welcome Sri. V.K. MURTHY.
Sri. Govind Nihalani and Smt. Uma Rao, author of Sri. V.K.MURTHY’s biography, ‘Bisilu Kolu’ will participate in the discussion.

About Sri V K Murthy
VK Murthy is best known for the magical B/W imagery he created in Guru Dutt’s films – Pyaasa (1957), Kagaz Ke Phool (1959), Sahib, Bibi aur Gulam (1962) and many others. Kagaz ke phool was India’s first cinemascope film, which won V K Murthy the Filmfare Best Cinematographer award. He also received the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Lifetime Achievement award in 2005.
